Things I may or may not do this year…

Resolutions. Just typing the word invokes panic, as I see all the things I love (booze, chocolate, junk food) being taken away from me, and all the things I detest (exercise and clean living in general) being forced on me. There’s nothing worse.
Anyway, I didn’t get you here to talk about all the ‘improvements’ I’m going to make on myself this year (or at least the improvements I say I’m going to make) – I want to talk about all the wonderful things I’d like to do with my blog this year. I’m still a total newb at all this blogging business, but there are definitely some things I want to improve on, things I’d really like to have nailed by my blog’s first birthday.

  • First things first, I want to write more often, which means I want to post more often. I’m getting pretty keen on this writerly business, and Stephen King just told me that I should be writing shitloads more than I am, but then he also mentioned something about profanity being lazy writing, so…can we really trust him? 😉
  • Secondly, I want to write more discussion posts, and not just rely on Top Ten Tuesdays to fill a slot each week. Although I’m way too much of a list slut to stop those posts altogether – I just felt like they were becoming a bit of a crutch for me.
  • Finally, I’d like to take better photos – I’m not sure how possible this is, because if you think I’m an amateur blogger, that’s nothing compared to my photography skills. Maybe I’ll be more realistic and say I’d like to put more effort into the photos/graphics on the blog.

Three sounds like a nice round number for blog resolutions – I don’t want to leave myself with nothing to aim for next year. How about you guys – I’d love to hear what your blogging (and otherwise) aims are for the new year.

  1. Good luck with your goals this year! Last fall, I decided that I could take better pictures that goes up on the blog, and I sort of, kind of accomplished that. More discussion posts will be awesome, too. But it’s hard to think of what to discuss on a consistent basis. Anyway, your goals seem feasible enough. 🙂

  2. I can definitely relate to all these goals! I’m hoping to end up with some kind of writing related career, so I’m actually going to have to try and write more this year as well, and I’ve signed up for a discussion post challenge to try and encourage me to write more discussion posts. I also just got a new camera a month or so ago and really want to learn how to actually use it, and get better with my photography.
Best of luck with your goals and Happy New Year!

    • I’m thinking of signing up for that discussion post challenge – think it would be a great way to keep motivated.

Good luck with the new camera – I look forward to seeing lots of fancy new photos on your blog. 🙂
