Slump up the volume

I’m in a real reading slump at the moment and it’s KILLING my stats; I’ve been reading the same book for over two weeks now (which is unheard of for me). It’s not a massive book, and it’s not that I’m hating it – I’m actually quite enjoying it – I’ve just obviously not been setting aside the time to read it.

The interesting thing about having a book blog is that writing for it really cuts into the time I would normally spend reading. So, the more I write about how much I love books, the less time I actually spend with these beloved artefacts. Which is fine if that was what was causing this current slump, but I’ve barely been blogging either, so what the hell am I doing with all this free time I supposedly have?

Do you guys go through these kinds of slumps? Any tips for getting out of it?

(Full disclosure, I’m reading two books at the moment and one of them is The Longest Ride by Nicholas Sparks (for book club), which I am HATING. I apportion roughly 75% of the blame for the reading slump on this terrible piece of trash – but my Nicholas Sparks diatribe is a post for another day…)

  1. Ugh, I hate reading slumps so much. One thing I do to try to get past it is to reread an old favorite. Or sometimes just take a break from reading altogether. I have taken a week off from reading once, just because my brain needed the break. That is not a bad thing. 🙂 Hope you get past your slump soon!
