A bad case of the lazy bones

Boy oh boy it’s been a long time since I wrote a post. I wish I could say it’s because I’ve been reading so much – but it’s not. I started Elena Ferrante’s The Story of a New Name almost two weeks ago and I still haven’t finished. Not because I’m not enjoying it – I’m loving it in fact. All of the issues I had with the first book in the series seem to have been addressed and improved upon in this one, and I’m really enjoying being ensconced in Lenu and Lila’s Neapolitan world.

So, it’s not the reading that’s keeping me from blogging. Maybe it’s that I’ve been working so hard on writing my novel that I just haven’t had a spare second to blog. Also not the case. These are the first words I’ve written that haven’t been in an email or a text for weeks.

The truth is, I’ve just had a bad case of the lazy bones. I go through phases where finding the motivation, not to mention the subject matter, to blog is a real struggle. And not ploughing through the books at my usual speed means I don’t have any of my go-to book review blog posts to fall back on. I’m hoping that this post will lift me out of my funk and get me reading and writing again. Fingers crossed…
